TJ & Kristina met on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the music festival “Waking Windows” that used to take place in Winooski, Vermont.
It was karaoke night at Asian Bistro. Kristina’s friends were queuing up to sing Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”. Since her first and only karaoke debut was impressively making John Denver’s “Take Me Home Country Roads” unrecognizable to the human ear, she decided to get as far away from the stage as possible so there would be no way she could be persuaded to give it another go.
This is how she found herself at the bar, hiding from view, when TJ ambled up to order himself a drink. Conveniently, he was also making every attempt to avoid being roped into singing. His friends had chosen to ironically bellow “Happy Birthday” to no one in particular.
TJ being the chatty Cathy that he is struck up a conversation with Kristina immediately. She would like to think that it was because he was enamored by her radiant smile from the start. Pretty sure he was simply trying to find any possible excuse not to return to his table. Didn’t matter. She took the bait with his casual and safe question “Is this a full weekend of music or something?”
That’s all it took. They didn’t stop talking after that and not a day has gone by where they haven’t had some form of correspondence. It was meant to be!
That night, he didn’t even take issue (or likely even notice) that Kristina had bright red lipstick on her teeth the entire time they were talking. It was only when TJ excused himself to use the bathroom when his eagle-eyed friend said “You have lipstick on your teeth.” Thank goodness for honest people!
